山脈の末端、台地の先に有る襟裳岬

北海道の中央を走る日高山脈の最南端に位置する岬。地形は太平洋に向かって南へ突き出していて、北海道の地形を象徴する形状をしている。先端部から沖合7kmまでは岩礁が点在していて、一帯はゼニガタアザラシの生息地としても知られる。

A cape located at the southernmost tip of the Hidaka Mountains, which run through the centre of Hokkaido. The topography of the cape juts southwards towards the Pacific Ocean, giving it a shape that symbolises the topography of Hokkaido. The area is dotted with reefs from the tip to 7km offshore and is known as a habitat for harbour seals.
