晴天の支笏湖、冬の風不死岳

風不死岳は支笏湖の南岸、樹林帯を抜けた先にあるカルデラ火山。北に支笏湖、南には活火山である樽前山と、その噴煙を望む。物騒な名前はアイヌ語で”トドマツ”を表す””フプシ”を語源とする。

huppushidake is a caldera volcano located on the southern shore of Lake Shikotsu, beyond the tree line. Lake Shikotsu is to the north and Mt Tarumae, an active volcano, and its volcanic fumes are to the south. The dangerous name is derived from the Ainu word “fupsi” for “Abies sachalinensis”.
