地球活動の縮図、生きた鉱床。オンネトー湯の滝

北海道足寄町、道道オンネトー線を進み、秘境湖のほとり。2万年前から火山活動を続ける、阿寒富士由来の湯滝。雌阿寒岳山麓の原生林を抜けた先に有るこの場所は、湯に含まれるマンガンイオンが菌と藻類の働きにより鉱物化、安山岩質の崖に体積することで成る、天然のマンガン鉱床。山腹から湧き出す湯滝は、真冬でも凍らない。自然が興した奇跡の場所として、季節を超え、時代を超え、原始からの歴史を刻み続ける。

A microcosm of Earth activity, a living mineral deposit. Onneto Hot Water Falls.

The Akan Fuji-derived Yutaki Waterfall, which has been volcanically active for 20,000 years, is located in Ashoro Town, Hokkaido, on the road Onneto Line and beside an unexplored lake. This is a natural manganese deposit where manganese ions in the hot water are mineralised by the action of fungi and algae and accumulate on the andesitic cliffs. The waterfalls gushing from the mountainside do not freeze even in midwinter. As a miraculous place created by nature, it transcends the seasons and the ages, and continues to mark the history of the area from the primitive times.
